Chance is a film critic and arts journalist. He’s a longtime Willamette Week contributor whose bylines have also appeared in Paste, PopMatters, Vulture, The Playlist, and The Daily Astorian. He hosts The Kick movie podcast on the Now Playing Network and is a founding member of the Portland Critics Association.

Patrick has been writing reviews since 2014, and contributed to T.H.O. Movie Reviews. A lifelong movie nerd, Patrick has always been more than willing to talk about movies, provided anyone cares to listen. Aside from critiquing a film’s integrity, he also considers the state of the movie business around the world, and how off-camera forces influence what we see. Patrick keeps busy with multiple projects, both creatively and professionally, and is currently residing in Guam.

A nominee for six Pushcart awards, Linda writes poetry, fiction, essays, and reviews. Her latest chapbook, Not Me: Poems About Other Women, was published by Finishing Line Press. She’s drawn to movies with strong/witty actresses, from Katherine Hepburn to Rachel McAdams.

Eric Ash
Sci-Fi/Fantasy Correspondent
Eric Ash is one of three boys in the same California kindergarten class to have moved up to Oregon, all independently of each other. He currently works full time in a support capacity at OHSU, and also contributes to Willamette Week for local stories related to theater, film, and music. In his spare time, he is working on publishing a series of millennial mysteries about an amateur detective facing AI musical plagiarists, chain-smoking men in masks, crooked city councilors, and other assorted villains.

Ben Eastman

Ben composed the Fools Who Dream Podcast’s theme music. He is a film composer, guitarist, bassist, and synth player, playing all the instruments and producing his own releases. His music is best described as synth-rock fusion with funk, blues, and surf influences (inspired by John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, and Goblin). McKenzie (she/her) is an illustrator/designer in Portland, Ore., and the creator of Fools Who Dream’s original art. She loves drawing everything from editorial illustrations to children’s book content. Her work has been featured in Willamette Week, Eugene Weekly, A Kids Book About, and more. When not creating art, you can find her playing DND, consuming large amounts of espresso, and wishing it would rain.
